November 18, 2009

THIS is the face of the man who police want to speak to in relation to an early-morning sex incident in Farnborough.

The composite image shows a man who approached a woman in Farnborough town centre before committing an “indecent act” in front of her.

Beat officers from Farnborough police station issued the image using information supplied by the victim.

The incident happened at 7.30am on Tuesday, October 20 in Farnborough Road.

A 33-year-old woman was walking towards the train station when a man approached her from the Pinehurst car park underpass.

The man asked the woman for the time. As she walked on, he said something else that made her turn around.

She then saw the man committing an indecent act. The woman continued walking away and called the police.

The man was white, in his mid 40s, 5ft 10ins tall, of medium build, clean shaven with a wide face. He had short, light brown hair and was wearing wire-framed glasses and a waist-length grey coat.

"Vital information"

Pc Liz Thomas from Farnborough police station said: “We would like to hear from anyone who recognises this e-fit and knows who could be responsible.

“We’d also still like to hear from anyone who was in the area that morning

“The victim has told us a member of the public walked past the man just before it happened and we are keen to trace this man as he may have vital information.”

The force said to stay safe on the streets, people should try to stay in bright, well-lit and busy areas, be vigilant and walk purposefully to avoid falling prey to street crime.

Anyone with information should contact Pc Thomas at Farnborough police station on 101 or call the Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Callers from outside Hampshire should call 0845 045 45 45
