PUPILS from a school in Hawley were among those taking part in a national competition showcasing young people’s presentation skills.
Hawley Place School pupils Charlotte Steele, Caris Brooks and Polly Thomson Storey took to the stage in the grand final of the Rotary Youth Speaks 2010 senior competition.
The team, which consisted of a chairperson, a speaker and a proposer of the vote of thanks, made a presentation comparing face-to-face relationships with those made online through social media such as Facebook.
The girls, who were sponsored by the Rotary Club of Aldershot, had made their way through the local and regional heats before coming to Stratford on Avon for the final, where they faced stiff competition from seven other groups from across the UK.
Although pipped to a winning position team member Caris Brooks said she had been pleased with the group’s performance.
She said: “We are so happy with our achievement, we have done really well to get to this level, and we are very proud to represent our school”
