Model aircraft day has Blackbushe crowds flying high
By Tim TonkinMay 21, 2010
IT WAS chocks away at Blackbushe airport last Saturday as model aircraft enthusiasts gathered to watch a day of aeronautical displays.
Models of varying sizes and speeds took to the air during the daylong celebration, which saw modellers, and families alike turn out to enjoy the occasion.
The event, which was organised by the Thames Valley Scale Airtow club (TVSA), was the fourth of its kind with organisers pleased with the turn out.
Over 1,000 people descend on the airport including a group of aircraft model enthusiasts from Germany who brought with them a selection of planes never flown before in the UK.
Exciting
One of the most spectacular sights on the day was that of the DG 1000 jet engine model, which, with a wing span of nearly nine metres, was rather hard to miss.
Speaking after the event TVSA member Andy Schafer said he’d been very pleased with the how things had gone.
He said: “It was the best day we’ve ever, a fast and exciting day of flying and aerobatics.”

This happens again and again. If we dont know before the event, why do we need to know after? It's like reading last weeks TV mag, 'this is what you could have watched'!
