Young woman sexually assaulted by flasher
June 09, 2010
POLICE have stepped up uniformed patrols in Farnborough after a woman was sexually assaulted on her way to work.
At around 7.50am on Saturday (June 5), the 21-year-old was walking along Canterbury Road when she noticed a man ahead of her, police said.
He stopped and walked back towards the woman, before sexually assaulting her and indecently exposing himself.
The victim, who was not physically injured, managed to run off and the man did not follow her.
Police said the "slim and gaunt" attacker was white, in his late 20s, with short dark hair. He had dark eyes, was wearing dark clothes, and had a "dirty" appearance.
PC Lucy Hawkins, of Farnborough police, said that although the area would have been quiet so early in the morning, someone may have been around and seen the man responsible.
"We would ask anyone with any information to contact us as soon as possible," she said.
PC Hawkins added that beat officers were increasing patrols in the area and would be happy to speak to anyone with safety concerns.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact PC Hawkins at Farnborough police station on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
