A YATELEY man has been arrested in connection with an arson attack on a Farnborough home.

Firefighters went to the home of a 50-year-old woman in Thames Close, Farnborough, at 11.08pm on Friday evening (June 18) to put out a fire that had engulfed the front door and spread to the hallway.

Police believe someone put something through the letterbox, which ignited a magazine on the floor.

The fire spread to curtains in the house and set boxes in the hallway alight. The woman was woken up by a noise and escaped before getting help from a neighbour.

Police said they want information about a man seen leaving the area at around 11pm in a small silver or grey car.

He was described as white, aged between 18 and 19, around 5ft 6ins tall, slimly built with short dark hair and wore a dark t-shirt.

Officers have arrested a 25-year-old man from Yateley.

Anyone with any information should contact Detective Constable Andy Sullivan at Aldershot police station on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
