January 25, 2011
AN APPRENTICE from Fleet is celebrating after scooping a top industry award.
Jamie Manners has been named Apprentice of the Year for the southern counties region in the 10th Master Builder Awards.
Organised by the Federation of Master Builders (FMB), the award is a nationwide search for the cream of the construction industry’s future talent, with a £1,000 top prize.
Jamie, who works for Farnborough-based Marble Construction Ltd, was chosen from hundreds of entries for his high standard of workmanship, great attitude, professionalism and dedication to his work.
Company director Stuart Wyeth said: “Jamie is a pleasure to have on the team.
“He’s hard working, determined to succeed in the industry and we hope he continues to have a enjoyable and lasting carrier with us.”
Jamie now goes through to the national final to compete against apprentices from around the UK.
The national winner will be announced during a ceremony at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge in London on March 11.
Hayley Fry, director of FMB southern counties region, said: “The Apprentice of the Year Award recognises talented apprentices who have worked hard to achieve high standards of skill and craftsmanship in their chosen trade.
“Jamie is an outstanding example of an apprentice showing commitment, dedication and determination to carve a career in this important industry, and we wish him the best of luck in the national final.”
