Armed robbery by masked men at Aldershot Tesco
By Jack SommersAugust 24, 2011
ARMED robbers held up a security van as it delivered money to a cash machine at the Tesco in Aldershot, before speeding away on a motorbike.
The assailants are believed to have used a handgun to force the van driver to hand over the cash.
Police described the motorbike as 'distinctive' and orange with a large, striped fuel tank.
The Group 4 Securicor van was making the delivery at 12.15pm on Wednesday (August 24) to the cash machines at the Wellington Avenue superstore.
The guards were approached by two men who both had their faces covered and were threatened by one of them, who it is believed had a handgun.
Both men then escaped using the A325 towards Farnham, on the orange motorbike, which is described as having a large fuel tank which possibly has stripes on the side.
Detective Inspector Dave Sackman said: “Fortunately no one was hurt during this incident. We are keen to speak to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the car park area of Tesco or near the entrance to the store.
"We would also like to hear from anyone who has seen this distinctive orange motorbike."
