Burglars use stolen van to ram raid plumbing shop
By Pete CastleOctober 11, 2011
RAM raiders smashed their way into an Aldershot plumbing supplies shop to steal copper pipes.
Thieves stole a blue Mazda E2200 van from an address in Osprey Gardens, Aldershot, shortly after 10.45pm on Wednesday October 5, police said.
Detectives believe the van was then used to smash its way through the front of the building used by Heating Plumbing Supplies in Wyndham Street, on the Manor Park Estate in Aldershot, some time before midnight.
A large quantity of three-metre length copper piping was stolen from the property, valued at around £5,000.
Police were called at midnight to the scene of the burglary. Officers are linking the theft of the van and the ram raid. The van, registration number M828 OTF, has still not been found.
Detectives are now asking for any witnesses to come forward.
Detective Constable Andrew Grieve said: “We are very keen to hear from anyone who was in the area of Wyndham Street before midnight on Wednesday evening and in particularly if you saw the blue Mazda van in that area.
“We are also keen to hear from anyone who was in the area of Osprey Gardens in Aldershot at around 10.45pm and saw anything in relation to the theft of the van.”
