Aldershot schools merger approved
By Stephanie CockroftJanuary 23, 2012
PROPOSALS to merge two schools in Aldershot to create a new 420-place primary school have been approved.
The merger of West End Infant School and Beaumont Junior School was agreed on Monday (January 23) at Hampshire County Council's cabinet meeting.
Councillors said the move would help to improve educational standards for pupils at both schools.
The school will, for now, remain split across the two school sites on York Road and Alexander Road, but could be moved on to one site in the future.
Governors at West End Infant School had been against the proposal, along with 252 of the 275 people who repsonded to the consultation.
