Dealership hits Children in Need target
By Nick EdmondsonNovember 20, 2012
An Aldershot car dealership is celebrating completing raising £3,500 for Children in Need after cycling the same number of miles.
Employees at Charters Peugeot, in Ash Road, took it in turns to clock up the miles – the equivalent of a trip to New York – while enlisting the help of customers or local organisations.
Aldershot Town players Doug Bergqvist and Craig Reid launched the sponsored cycle, with youth teammates also clocking up miles and members of Farnborough & Camberley Cycling Club also taking park.
Cyclists who took part joined Charters employees in their fund-raising, eventually reaching the £3,500 milestone.
Derek McQueen, Charters dealer principal, said: “The bike ride was a challenge for the team, but they have really embraced it and enjoyed raising a lot of money for Children in Need.
“We’re really grateful for all the support we’ve received from our sporting heroes and loyal customers in Aldershot. We are overwhelmed by the enthusiasm with which people have given up their time and donated so generously. We couldn’t have done this without them.”
