Jilted Fleet man slashed ex-lover's car tyres
By Stephen LloydDecember 18, 2012
A JILTED man who slashed his ex-lover’s car tyres after she left him has appeared in court.
In front of Aldershot magistrates on Thursday 6, Marc Grainger admitted slashing four tyres belonging to Wendy Edwards in Fleet on October 11.
Kerry Richardson, prosecuting, said Grainger and Miss Edwards had been in a relationship for about 10 months but it had ended in August.
Two months after, Miss Edwards discovered all four tyres of her car were flat and had been slashed. That morning, 46-year-old Grainger had turned up at her house to return some post.
Police were called and they interviewed Grainger, who admitted he had damaged the tyres with a knife.
He told officers he felt angry and depressed and said he felt his heart had been ripped out because she had left him.
Mrs Richardson said Grainger had previous convictions for harassment and asked magistrates to grant a restraining order banning him from contacting his ex-partner or visiting her home in Fleet.
Bernard Crick, defending, said his client was known to the probation service and asked magistrates to adjourn the case for an all-options report.
The magistrates agreed and the case will now be heard at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on December 31.
Grainger, who lives in Lyndhurst Road, Fleet, was granted bail on condition he does not contact Miss Edwards or go to her home.
