Concerns for missing Farnborough man

POLICE are worried about the welfare of a Farnborough man who has been missing for 10 days.

Ian Silvester, 44, of Cromwell Way, was reported missing to Hampshire Police on Tuesday, December 11. He was last seen in November by his landlady.

Police have called on the public for information that could lead to his whereabouts.

Sergeant Mark Woodhead, of Hampshire Police, said: “Mr Silvester has been missing for a considerable amount of time and we are growing increasingly concerned for his welfare.”

Officers said Mr Silvester was last seen by his landlady on November 15, after which she went away until December 3. Mr Silvester looked after her cats while she was away. When she returned the cats appeared to have been well looked after, but there was no trace of Mr Silvester.

Hampshire Police said Mr Silvester's last know address was in Farnborough, and he has previously lived in Aldershot and Wembley.

“We have carried out a number of lines of enquiry to try and trace him,” continued Sgt Woodhead. “We have spoken to his friends who are concerned for his welfare.

“We know this is out of character for Ian and we are appealing to the community for their help in finding him.

“Have you seen him in the area? Do you know where he is? One of his friends has suggested he could be sleeping rough in the Aldershot area so I would urge the community to be vigilant and look out for him.

“I would urge anyone who sees Ian, or anyone who knows where he may be, to make contact with the police immediately.”

Sgt Woodhead added: “I would also like to appeal directly to Mr Silvester to make contact with us as soon as possible so we can make sure he is safe and well.”
