Sage the labrador's picture perfect calendar
By Tim HarrisFebruary 06, 2013
A DOG from Farnborough has helped raise nearly £2,000 for a canine charity after posing for a calendar.
Calendars featuring poster-girl labrador, Sage, sold by the dozen, raising £1,853 for the Labrador Lifeline charity.
Sage’s owner Alyson Fitzgerald, who lives in North Camp, produced the calendar and has sold all 170 copies.
It features chocolate-coloured Sage on every month, where she is also pictured with some of her ‘companions’.
Ms Fitzgerald said: “I am really happy and pleased that we raised so much, it is an amazing amount.
"We travelled up and down the country to get photos with her friends.
“Sage had a lot of fun, she is a real poser and loves having her photo taken.
"She will do whatever you want her to do as long as she gets a biscuit at the end of it.”
Ms Fitzgerald told of how Sage fell ill last year, but she had the insurance to fund her recovery.
There are others who might struggle to afford this sort of cost, which is why she chose to support Labrador Lifeline.“There are many people who have got dogs and just do not have the money,” added Ms Fitzgerald.
“I knew I wanted to do a calendar to help other dogs. The money raised from the calendar is going to pay for an ear operation for a black Labrador.
“It is very important work they do at Labrador Lifeline, they also re-home dogs.”
Sage is no stranger to fundraising – she has previously helped Ms Fitzgerald raise money for Breast Cancer Charity, Guide Dogs and stillborn babies charity Sands.
