A MOTHER from Blackwater is following in the footsteps of her teenage daughter as both have dazzled judges in national beauty competitions.

Kirsty Fletcher, 43, was crowned Mrs Galaxy UK in the sparkling final of the United Kingdom Galaxy Pageant.

Mrs Fletcher, who has two children, runs her own beauty salon Spa Angels Beauty and Tanning Studio at her home in Vicarage Road. She said: "I have never done something like this before.

"It is so exciting and now I am off to America to compete further.

"I am more used to watching my 16-year-old daughter Daisy on stage as she won the Miss Teen Great Britain competition in September last year."

By participating in the pageant, both Mrs Fletcher and her daughter are raising money for Arthritis Research UK as Daisy herself was diagnosed with arthritis a few years ago.

The Mrs Galaxy UK final was held at the Park Hall Hotel in Lancashire on March 3 and Mrs Fletcher will now represent the UK in the Mrs Galaxy Inter-national pageant in Florida this summer. The competition included four different rounds including interview, evening wear, fashion wear and swimwear.
