Baby Gemma Louise was first
By Olivia Dawkins6/ 1/2005
Claire Knight, of Leybourne Avenue, Byfleet, went into labour on Christmas Eve as she was making last-minute festive preparations so her partner Steve Workman took her to hospital at 10.30pm.
By 1.07am on Christmas Day, Gemma Louise was born weighing 7lbs 12oz.
To mark the occasion staff in the maternity ward sang Merry Christmas to Claire and the baby and gave Gemma a Santa sack filled with goodies including a knitted jacket, blanket and doll.
Ms Knight said: “She is just perfect and her arrival has made our Christmas one to remember.”
A festive lunch was provided by the hospital and by Boxing Day mother and daughter were on their way home to celebrate the Christmas Day they had missed.
And Gemma’s big sister Rebecca, aged three, paid a visit to the hospital on Christmas Day to meet the new arrival.
