Football: Leppard appointed Shots 'acting chairman'
By Charlie OliverNovember 03, 2009
ALDERSHOT Town Football Club have announced that John Leppard has been appointed acting chairman until further notice.
The news follows a board meeting held on Monday night.
Last week, directors Leighton Moat and Tony Taylor resigned from the board and the club statement said that Leppard's appointment had been made "whilst a current restructuring of the Board of Directors continues".
The club added: "It was imperative to make an immediate appointment of an 'acting chairman' to provide stability and direction.
"John is a lifelong supporter [of both Aldershot FC and Aldershot Town FC], who originates from Ash and has been a director since 1997."
Leppard was formerly managing director of Charters Peugeot, who have a long sponsorship history with Aldershot Town.
The post of chairman has been vacant at the Recreation Ground since the death of John McGinty in August this year.
