Fixtures make for tough start for Farnborough FC
By Jon CouchJuly 02, 2012
FARNBOROUGH have been handed the toughest possible start to their new Blue Square South season.
Spencer Day's men begin their campaign on August 18 with a long trip to the Kent coast to take on one of the pre-season favourites for the title, Dover Athletic.
Other key dates in the calendar see Boro face neighbours Basingstoke Town twice over the Christmas and New Year period, while a trip to Weston-super-Mare and home game against Maidenhead United make up the Easter Bank Holiday.
The season ends with a home game against Chelmsford City on April 27.
Day told the club's official website: "We have got a very tough test up first, travelling to one of the favourites for this season's title.
"They [Dover] have made some excellent signings and it will be a big crowd, but we will travel there with confidence and really have nothing to lose.
"I am pleased that we have avoided any long midweek journeys. It is going to be a tough season, but I am looking forward to getting pre-season preparations under way."
