Rushmoor's mayor has become the first to sign up to the Shots' new share scheme
Mayor of Rushmoor, Cllr Terry Bridgeman, is top of the shop for Aldershot Town FC - after purchasing the first shares from the club’s new share scheme.
Cllr Bridgeman, a lifelong Shots’ supporter, formally collected his prized asset from the club offices yesterday morning (Wednesday) from chairman Shahid Azeem and commercial manager Nicky Banger.
The Board of Directors decided to launch the new share scheme in response to a number of requests from fans, stating it would welcome community involvement to help sustain the club now and into the future.
Fans wishing to apply to buy shares in the club may do so by completing the ATFC Share Subscription document, which can be downloaded from the club website at www.theshots.co.uk, collected in person from the club shop or emailed upon request.
Each share costs £1, with a minimum subscription of 100 shares or £100, and successful applications received before next Wednesday (23) will have their share certificates available for collection in time for Christmas.
Cllr Bridgeman said: “I am delighted and very proud to be a part of a new era for Aldershot Town, and want to support the club as it strives for a successful future.
"Community involvement is a huge asset to both the club and its fans, and I hope that others join me in purchasing shares.”
Mr Banger added: “We would like to thank Cllr Bridgeman for his continued and very generous support. Buying shares in the club not only provides an opportunity to own a part of your football club, but also entitles you to a genuine voice in decisions on how the club will be run.
“All money raised will go directly into the club, and invested in work to improve both stadium facilities and Andy Scott’s playing squad.”
