Ivar Ingimarsson believes Andre Bikey has the potential to become a top-quality defender at Reading.

Despite missing the start of this season due to his involvement in Cameroon’s Olympic squad, Bikey has emerged as a key player in Royals’ push for promotion.

He has started in the last 11 matches and netted three goals.

The 23-year-old has formed an impressive defensive partnership alongside vice-captain Ivar Ingimarsson. And Ibrahima Sonko’s £2m departure to Stoke in August has had no adverse effect on  Reading’s hopes for a swift return to the Premier League.

Ingimarsson (right) declared: “I played alongside Andre quite a lot last year and a little before that. Now we have had a run of games and it’s going well.

“Andre is a brilliant player and I think he will only get better and better. I think we will see much more from him.”
