Action hotting up in junior cricket leagues
June 11, 2009
ST JOSEPH’S continue to lead the way in the Chance to Shine Junior School League.
But they are being pressed hard by St Michael’s, Beaumont and fast-improving Newport and Talavera.
The development of every team over the five weeks of the league, organised by Aldershot CC, is always surprising as the school time coaching makes its mark.
Meanwhile, the Secondary Schools Leagues, which involve six schools playing each other for a similar five-week period, are starting to take shape with the Year 7 (U12) and Year 8 (U13) having played two matches each.
The format is a fast 10/10 game on an eight balls per over basis.
Calthorpe and All Hallows are unbeaten in Year 8 but Connaught are fast improving, while Ash Manor and Wavell are getting everyone involved.
