GRAHAM Westley's Farnborough Town opened their pre-season account with a six-goal show at Ryman Premier new boys Bishop's Stortford — thus stating their intentions for the season ahead.
Despite a stuttering start — the home side took the lead on 25 minutes — Boro put in a superb second half performance to register a comprehensive win.
Trevor Paul opened the scoring after latching on to a Vinnie John ball to slide it past Boro's essential summer signing, goalkeeper Tony Pennock.
But after hitting the woodwork from six yards out, Dean Green began the comeback with the equaliser on 38 minutes.
Boro were then in full flow and took the lead just before the break when Lenny Piper cleverly lobbed keeper Micky Desborough.
Westley rung the changes in the second half but Boro didn't stop there. Newly-introduced Joff Vansittart provided Christian Lee with number three and then Green for number four before he finally got on the scoresheet himself late on.
In between, Westley would have been delighted with new signing Danny Carroll opening his Boro account with a neat chip.
BORO: Pennock; Warner, Gregory (sub Gwillem), O'Shea (Annon), Laker, Butterworth (C Piper), Watson (Carroll), L Piper (Vansittart), Lee (Baptiste), Green, Taggart.
Supporters are advised to purchase their season tickets prior to Wednesday's pre-season friendly with a Portsmouth XI.
The season ticket includes entry to this match — Boro's first home tie of the season. Kick off at the AIMITA Stadium is 7.45pm.
