THE NHS usually receives very negative press but I, for one, am most grateful to all the civilian and military staff who looked after me during my recent stay in Ward F3, at Frimley Park Hospital for a full knee replacement operation.

My five-year-old son had to attend Frimley Park A&E on Tuesday morning after slicing off a piece of his finger. He took with him his much loved doggy soft toy for comfort and was very brave!

I regret having to take issue with Coun Mike Roberts on the subject of weeds but he only has to take a journey into Fleet via the new Ively Road then detouring into Pondtail Gardens in order to view the very best collection of weeds in the district covering verges and footpaths alike.

I have been interested to read in the last two editions of the Star that some people in Farnborough feel overlooked or somehow cheated because they did not receive any free tickets for the Airshow, when we have all been greatly inconvenienced by it while apparently gaining nothing at all.

So we are going to get new, smaller rubbish bins; maybe the present ones are 20 years old but I have yet to see one that is damaged. How much is this going to cost? Can the old bins be recycled?

The street collections for Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice on June 14 and 21 in Fleet, Hartley Wintney and surrounding districts raised £1,659.68 and £504.65 respectively.
