Soldier plans not new

In regards to the article Kids On Warpath by Rebecca Connop Price (Star July 17).
Thought you might like to know this idea put forward by Coun Mike Roberts is not new; a very good friend of mine the late Sgt John Bertinshaw formerly of 7 Para RHA spent the last three to five year of his military service with other members of HM Armed Forces permanently seconded to schools in the Norwich/Ipswich area.
I understand it was a trial scheme set up by the MoD, gaining the attention of the national newspapers with John and some of the kids he was involved with making the front page of the Guardian newspaper.
