Fireworks mark the occasion

THE 50th anniversary of the Queen's accession to the throne provides the perfect excuse to celebrate.

If you are looking for a stylish evening where you can wave your Union flags and commemorate the Golden Jubilee year, the Last Night of the Jubilee Proms with fireworks at Loseley Park, Guildford, on Friday August 23 is the answer.

Conducted by Roderick Dunk, the Performing Arts Symphony Orchestra (PASO) will play classics from some of the greatest composers, including Elgar, Johann Strauss and Offenbach, along with some delightful arias from Faust and Madame Butterfly performed by soprano Louise Cannon.

No stranger to touring, Louise has performed all over the world at such prestigious venues as Covent Garden and is coming direct from the role of Messaline at the Batigiano Festival in Italy to sing at Loseley Park.

Her performances are not confined to concert halls — Louise has also sung for Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace and Elton John at his summer ball.

With fans such as these, we are confident that she will be a great success with the Loseley audience.

In a truly patriotic second half, Louise will be dazzling the audience with a Vera Lynn tribute and all the traditional Proms favourites from Wood's Sea Songs to Rule Britannia and Jerusalem — music that provides inspiration for those who are eager to wave their flags.

A rousing firework finale marks the end of a memorable picnic-in-the-park concert in one of the most stunning surroundings in Britain.

Tickets in advance: £18 for adults, £12 for children. On the day: £21 and £15.

Gates open at 6pm. The concert starts at 7.30pm and ends at 10pm.
