Hundreds pound streets for final Yateley 10k summer race

The sun shone on the largest turnout of this summer's 10km road races in Yateley

Yateley 10k

The sun was shining on the hundreds of runners who took part in Yateley’s final road race of the summer.

Reading Road, Monteagle Lane and Cricket Hill Lane were just some of the streets taken over by the 875 athletes racing around the 10km route on August 6.

Held on the first Wednesday of June, July and August, the series is expected to have raised around £10,000 for charity.

The first race in June saw 803 runners take to the streets and 814 finished in July.

The road race, which has gained the Best Mid-Week Series prize from Runners World, was followed by a 2.5km fun run for youngsters.

One third of the race entry fees are distributed to various charities, but further funds are donated to good causes through individual sponsorship.

Previous recipients have included St John Ambulance, Yateley Industries, Farnborough Samaritans and Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice.
