Church Crookham was previously home to the only commercially successful tobacco plantation in Britain. Its former Queen Elizabeth Barracks, home of the Gurkhas from 1970 until 2000, is now a housing estate. Tweseldown racecourse was used in the 1948 London Olympics, while Luxury Vertu mobile phones are made at the company headquarters.
